Illustrative economics
What could a licensed pilot test?
How many people would play licensed Ascension?
Start with the number of people who could play if Blizzard offered Ascension through a licensed path.
100K is an adjustable financial example rather than a claimed player count or capacity limit.
What percentage do not have a WoW subscription today?
If Blizzard licenses Ascension and requires an active WoW subscription, these people would need to subscribe or reactivate before they could play.
The percentage is an adjustable example. Verified survey responses and licensed-service data could eventually replace it.
How much could those subscriptions bring Blizzard?
Only people who do not currently subscribe are counted as potential new subscription revenue in this example.
Source: Battle.net’s WoW subscription page. Regional prices, discounts, taxes, WoW Tokens, and cancellations can change the amount Blizzard receives.
What would a $5 licensed Ascension fee generate?
This example adds a separate $5 monthly Ascension access fee for every licensed player, alongside the required WoW subscription.
The $5 fee is a campaign proposal. Blizzard and Ascension have not announced or approved this price.
How could Blizzard and Ascension divide the fee?
The contract would set the real terms. This example divides the proposed fee pool equally so both sides have a clear reason to participate.
The 50/50 split is an example for this calculator. It is not a proposed contract or a statement from either party.
What could Blizzard receive in one year?
With 100,000 licensed players, this example assumes 20,000 would need to start or restart a WoW subscription.
Only subscriptions started or restarted because licensed Ascension exists are included as additional subscription revenue.
What could Ascension receive in one year?
This example gives Ascension half of the proposed $5 monthly access fee so it can operate and continue development.
- Proposed annual access-fee pool
- $6,000,000
- Ascension’s sample 50% share
The real agreement would decide the price, split, operating responsibilities, costs, and payment terms.
What could a licensed path create in one year?
Together, the example creates additional Blizzard revenue, operating revenue for Ascension, and a licensed way for players to support both.
A twelve-month license would replace guesses with actual demand, revenue, retention, and operating data. If you want Blizzard and Ascension to test that path, sign the petition.
Illustrative gross before costs, taxes, regional prices, discounts, refunds, cancellations, and negotiated terms. The $5 fee and 50/50 split are campaign examples. Existing WoW subscription payments are outside this total.
